Once you have met with the anaesthetist, the procedure will take place a few days later. Your surgery may be able to be performed as an outpatient procedure (you will be admitted on the morning of your surgery and discharged the same day). In other cases, conventional hospitalisation may be required and the length of your hospital stay will be specified during your consultation.
After you have been discharged from hospital, you will have regular consultations to check that you are recovering well.
In between being in hospital and your consultations, your dressings will be tended to by a nurse either at your home or their medical practice. Physiotherapy may also be required.
